All the M4A converting steps are just the same as how to convert M4A to MP3, except the 3rd one: Select output format from "Encoder:" combo-box. This is the key point to get your .M4A file.
First, you should select "FAAC DLL Encoder (*.aac)", here. If you click "Encode" to start your conversion now, you can only get the .aac file for MPEG2.
To get the .M4A file for MPEG4, then, you need to click the "Settings..." button at the right side of the "Encoder:" combo-box or choose "Encoder Properties..." in the Settings menu to enable the "Properties" panel.
And then, select "MPEG4:(*.M4A)" from "OutPut AAC File Format:" combo-box, the last option in the "Properties" panel. Click "OK" to save and close the "Properties" panel.
Now, click "Encode" to start your conversion. You have konwn what to do next.
